“You don’t decide anything here.” How Kiknadze failed almost everything at Loko in two years

Football

Vasily Kiknadze finished work at Lokomotiv – he served as CEO for almost two years. His dismissal hardly surprised anyone: it had been going for a long time, because problems were piling up, the atmosphere around the club was heating up, and there were more and more failures.

Let’s summarize.

Will Semin return to Lokomotiv? His enemy leaves the club

The club has a big restructuring and a power struggle. Two camps are fighting for influence.

Syomin. Remove Semin, despite FIFA’s recommendations to extend the ending agreements until the end of the interrupted season; to deprive the team that is in second place, the coach, albeit with a break for a three-month quarantine; to announce the non-renewal of the contract with the person who is in the first place in the list of club legends, two lines on the club’s website two weeks before the official end date of the agreement; to say goodbye two weeks later with a bunch of posts – such a set would drive any fan crazy with anger. Loko fans considered the action “Thank you, Palych!” hypocritical, and Kiknadze’s actions are unfounded and fundamentally wrong. In their list of “27 questions” they just wrote about this: “Parting with Semin was carried out as awkwardly as possible and with an incredible number of image” holes “for the club.”

And, if we discard all attempts to understand and evaluate the decision to part with Semin (for sure there were good reasons for this, which are difficult for us from the outside to understand), then it is difficult to disagree with the fans on this issue – it was a failure. Moreover, the blame lies not with the press service, which publishes the posts, but with Kiknadze, who in this case failed as a manager. It’s simple: there is a fact of leaving and there is a fact of universal love for the outgoing coach – you need to figure out how to present the news of parting with the legend as gently as possible, without prejudice to the image. Offhand, there are several options at once: keep silent on May 14 and announce everything in two weeks, or release at least a thousand posts on the same day with words of gratitude. But in the end there was only one – on Twitter, and then as a response to the entry about Nikolic.

The fans then received neither a clear explanation of the reasons for parting with Semin, nor a worthy farewell – both on the field and outside.

True, when the reasons were nevertheless formulated later, life hardly became easier: Kiknadze talked about injuries due to exertion, the desire to see attacking football, disagreement with Semin’s principles of working with youth and his attitude to the sale of players, as well as the inability to remake Yuri Pavlovich under the new four-year development strategy of the club – a year of conversations, according to him, did not give any result.

Semin was also not silent: he gave interviews, wrote posts on Instagram, often refuting Kiknadze’s words and urging him to leave. In this fight, he had an obvious advantage – the fans, who were always for him, always believed him and reminded him of this once again in every match. Yes, Kiknadze won, removing Semin from the club, but everything that happened next, he lost miserably.

Fans. Somehow, Kiknadze could not resist and showed his middle finger towards the South – and this was his fatal mistake, given the already tense situation after the dismissal of Semin. The second was a speech at a meeting with fans: “It’s not you who make decisions, but the head of the club. Not you! You cannot influence the club from any point of view! Not with the financial contribution you make to our work, nor with the support you provide in the stands. Shamefully for eight matches, you left and left the team without support. And only one thing was heard from you: “Remove Kiknadze, remove Kiknadze!” What is your merit that the team performed well? You can thump, hoot, scream and scream. Anything you want. You are welcome!”

There were no more meetings with the fans, so the conflict was initially doomed to a fatal result for one of the parties: Kiknadze stood his ground, the fans hated him more and more, the problem was not solved, but simply inflated like a balloon.

The expected outcome of Loko’s meeting with the fans: Kiknadze boiled, the players too

Poems, middle finger and questions about Palych.

Added to Semin’s theme were unfulfilled promises to improve the site and improve matchday, problems with buying tickets, rising season tickets and a system of discounts for them.

Herkus. Another big image failure for the club led by Kiknadze is the trial with the former head. When Vasily Alexandrovich came to the club, an audit was conducted, which, according to him, revealed some financial violations: he said that Herkus did not answer his SMS, so he had to go to court for answers. Herkus, in response, showed a screen of correspondence, where Kiknadze did not even read his last message, and said that all the accusations were far-fetched.

From the very beginning, this story did not show the club from the best side: either they filed a lawsuit with violations, then they forgot to pay the fee, then they brought a suitcase of documents drawn up with errors, without a notarized translation and in such a chaotic order that it was impossible to read them. Each meeting severely hit the reputation of the club, and the result of the whole process in general trampled it down: Herkus emerged victorious from it.

“I will be happy to return to Lokomotiv. Herkus won against Kiknadze in court

And then he touched Vasily in an interview. We recall all the nuances of this case.

Attacking football. Kiknadze said that he had a list of 18 candidates for the post of head coach, but “something did not work out with each one.” It worked out with Nikolic and, according to information from many sources, they hit the hands in March. The Serbian specialist attracted Kiknadze with his ability to work with youth and attacking football, which he repeatedly stated in an interview. Only then Marco himself later got tired of fighting off journalists and experts: “It is easy for every coach to go to the press and say:” Oh, we will play attractive, attacking football. ” Everyone loves to hear that. If you want, I can also say: Lokomotiv will play attractive, attacking football. ” But how can you take such claims seriously? After all, we live in the XXI century, when we need to attack, defend, go into counterattacks, hold the ball, put pressure, disrupt the opponent’s counterattacks – and much more. If you only have one of the above, then the result will suffer. Football is not about style. Football is about victories. “

Marko Nikolic – about Syomin, Kokorin, Kiknadze and his principles.

In an interview with Nobel Arustamyan, he generally said that he never spoke about his commitment to attacking football at all.

How does it all look in the eyes of the majority? Well, at least weird.

Selection. The transfer of Zhasur Zhaloliddinov turned out to be as strange as possible: the guy came from Uzbekistan for € 1 million, of which € 100 thousand went to the club, and € 900 thousand – to the agents. It was presented, announced in the RPL, and then given to Tambov. The second figure, causing no less discussion, is Slobodan Rajkovic, brought from the second division of Italy. Fans and experts agree that the Serb’s game is far from even the RPL level, and it is completely unclear how he ended up in the club at all. They also reproach Kiknadze with the cheap sale of Miranchuk: due to the non-renewal of the contract, the midfielder left for much less money than he could. Another story is Mario Mandzukich. Kiknadze at the last moment thwarted negotiations on his transfer: when everything was almost ready, the Loko management wanted to tie the salary to a fixed exchange rate.

But there is a problem even more globally: the team for the future has not been formed, and in terms of average age Lokomotiv is in a terrible situation – there are aged players in all key positions, Miranchuk’s replacement was never bought. And Barinov’s injury mowed down the support zone, which led to the fact that in the most important matches yesterday’s debutants come out on top.

Media. All these conflicts were also played out in the media: Kiknadze often said what only inflamed the conflict, did not listen to those who told him how to mitigate the situation. Sometimes it seemed that he was so confident in his experience of working in the media that by doing this he only made it worse for himself – after all, the football club has different laws.

Once he told the fans that they “do not decide anything here.” Six months have passed, and now Kiknadze is not deciding anything at Loko.
