Wimbledon Press Office: Unpredictable weather and match length will always make adjustments to the schedule

Tennis

Wimbledon’s press office has responded to criticism over the scheduling of matches.

Discontent was caused by the fact that the fourth round match between Ayla Tomlyanovich and Emma Radukanu put the third start on the schedule, although the women’s quarterfinals were already the next day. At the same time, the second start was the fourth round match between Felix Auger and Alexander Zverev.

“It’s a pity that Emma had to withdraw from yesterday’s match, we wish her a speedy recovery. We would like to note the maturity and composure that she showed during the entire tournament. We are waiting for her at Wimbledon next year and after.

We would like to say that scheduling for each day of the competition is a difficult job. We treat it very carefully, but it is not an exact science. We try to take into account the interests of the tournament, players, fans and viewers, but unpredictable weather and the duration of matches will always make adjustments, ”the organizers said in a statement.
