The International Boxing Federation has filed an IBF title claim against Mexican Saul "Kanelo" Alvarez, reports Prosports.kz with reference to ESPN.

Compelling rival for the Mexican was the Ukrainian Sergey Derevyanchenko. The teams had 30 days to negotiate, otherwise there will be promotional sales. The fight should take place on the 4th of August at the latest.

Previously, the title belonged to the American Daniel Jacobs, who lost his belt in a recent fight with the Mexican. Jacobs won Derevyanchenko's vacant IBF belt in October 2018, when Golovkin was stripped of his refusal to fight with a Ukrainian.

After the victory over the German Jack Kulkay the Ukrainian Derevyanchenko became again for him a compulsory opponent.

The Kanelo site has already responded to the federal statement:

"That's surprising and unfortunate because we did not even get congratulations from the IBF after the fight. We'll meet with Saul next week to find out how he wants to continue, "said Eric Gomez, president of the Golden Boy Promo Company.

Canelo and Jacobs sold 15,730 tickets worth $ 8.7 million
