Joyce’s manager: “Joe will be too strong for Usyk”

In the spring, Joe Joyce (12-0, 11 KOs) will cross gloves with Alexander Usik (18-0, 13 KOs) for the interim WBO heavyweight belt. Joyce’s manager Sam Jones is convinced that his boxer will emerge victorious from the championship confrontation, thereby paying off the Ukrainian for the defeat in the amateur ring.

“If Usyk had met Joe again in a five-round fight, he probably would have won. But with 10-ounce gloves, twelve rounds await them. This is completely different. Joe has made progress since that duel with Usyk, “Jones said in an interview with Behind The Gloves.

“Usyk is one of the best cruisers, along with Evander Holyfield and David Haye, he is a genius, but I think Joe will be too big and strong for him,” added the British manager.

According to the WBO decision announced over the weekend, the Usyk and Joyce teams have two weeks to come to an agreement on organizing the fight. In case of failure of negotiations, the organizer of the duel will determine the tender for promotional applications.
